PRESIDENT YUSHCHENKO PARTAKES IN OPENING OF 8TH EUROPEAN CONFERENCE OF YOUTH MINISTERS IN KYIV

President Viktor Yushchenko participated in the opening of the 8th European Conference of Youth Ministers in Kyiv, UKRINFORM correspondent reports.

In his address Yushchenko said he is glad to welcome both top official and youth in the Ukrainian land. The Head of State stressed that "Ukraine has always been in the European family". The President reiterated that one of Ukraine's main objectives is integration to all global processes being taken place in the world. "A special place in that belongs to Eurointegration aspiration to the European Union," V. Yushchenko said.

According to him, the EU is a great significant project where all European countries will find themselves in with time.

As referred to the Ukrainian youth, he named it very active. "The Ukrainian youth is a generator of most ideas on how to present Ukraine in the world," he underscored.

The Head of State wished the forum participants success and fruitful work.

Attending the event are Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe Maud de Boer-Buquicchio, Deputy Prime Minister Ivan Vasiunyk, Deputy Head of the Presidential Secretariat Roman Zhukovskyi, as well as representatives ministers responsible for youth from 49 Council of Europe member-states, Council of Europe Committee of Ministers officials.

The conference, entitled ''The Future of the Council of Europe Youth Policy: Agenda 2020'', will focus on challenges that young people across Europe are facing today. These include: promoting equal opportunities for girls and boys, young women and young men, supporting young people's access to social rights, empowering young people to promote cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue and it religious dimension, promoting intergenerational dialogue and solidarity. A final declaration outlining the priorities in the youth sector for the next decade - the so called ''Agenda 2020'' - is due to be adopted on 11 October.

As UKRINFORM earlier reported, the Ukrainian House hosted October 8-9 a youth forum that prefaced the 8th European Conference of Youth Ministers. The meeting participants, representatives of the European Youth Forum were working to form their vision of urgent youth problems.
